According to the Racine Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Pershing Park Drive at approximately 9:57 a.m. on July 18, 2026, after receiving a report concerning an individual experiencing a mental health crisis. Responding officers located the man near the lakeshore and attempted to engage with him. Authorities reported that he later sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers immediately rendered aid, but he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police confirmed that no shots were fired by responding officers.
